Barr's Emerger Wet Fly is an incredibly simple pattern, but one that will totally change your game when targeting picky trout. We've all seen a BWO hatch or a PMD hatch when plentiful duns are floating downriver on the surface of the water uneaten. Truth is, trout prefer to eat emergers because they're easier to catch, and trout don't necessarily have to break the surface. This fly is ideal when you know a hatch is taking place, but trout just aren't feeding on the mature adult flies. Use this fly on spring creeks and technical trout rivers where fish are keyed in on emerging insects. This can also be swung to imitate a 'swimmer' emerger. This fly imitates either a BWO or a PMD, depending on which color you choose.
