The Story

Thinking outside of the box, Ahrex's PR380 Texas Predator Hooks takes the design of Texas Rig Worm Hooks and makes it a little more fly angler-friendly through a slightly longer hook eye area. These hooks are a great choice for fishing waters that have a ton of structure, logjams, and weeds, as they create a pretty weedless fly. Made in larger sizes (1/0, 3/0, and 5/0), the PR380 Hooks are great for large streamers, and their chemically sharpened needle point and black nickel finish provide durability as well as a super sticky point. Whether you're chasing pike in the weeds or exploring new territory for largemouth bass, Ahrex's PR380 lets you do it without concern of snags and hangups.

Uses

Ahrex's PR380 Hooks are best for tying large streamers, and they're often used in conjunction with articulated shanks to make larger, truly weedless streamers. However, another solid use of this hook is to tie Bob Popovics's Schoolie Fly because it has a few different areas that you can tie on.

Comparisons

Another worm hook that's been used for fly tying applications is Gamakatsu's G Lock Worm Hooks. While these hooks weren't initially designed for tying flies, they've become a pretty solid option and are actually quite similar to Ahrex's PR380 Texas Predator Hooks. Regardless of choice, you can use both of these hooks to tie weedless flies to be fished in heavy cover.
