The Ahrex FW520 is the quintessential emerger hook. As classic looking as they come, the FW500 features a very realistic bend to the shank, black nickel finish, and chemically sharpened barb. When you're using this hook your emergers will not only look beautiful but be highly effective. The emerger is the stage of the bug life cycle where the nymphs swim to the surface, shed their nymphal shucks (shells), and become winged adults in the film of the surface of the river. Emergers are a great strategy to use when fishing during a dry fly hatch and you can't get a response to any adult stage patterns. An easy way to see when fish are rising to emergers is by the way the trout are rising. If their head does not fully break the surface when they rise, they are most likely eating emergers.
Uses: Use it for any emerger stage mayfly, caddis fly, or midge. Anything you want to float in the surface film will look great on this hook
Example flies: The RS2, Emerging Para dun, or Lafontaine's Sparkle Pupa are all emerger patterns that this hook works perfectly for.
Pack Size: 24
