Grade Breakdown

• AA Grade
  Our most popular and best-selling tails. These are large northern bucktails with consistently long hair roughly 4in long. With abundant density and premium quality, AA Grade bucktails cover all tying needs, from big saltwater patterns to oversized freshwater flies.

• A Grade
  Solid, dependable tails with hair length of around 3.5”. While shorter than AA, they maintain excellent density and balance — perfect when you need slightly shorter fibers without sacrificing quality. A Grade shines in patterns where durability and consistent texture matter as much as length.

• Select Grade
  The very best of the best. Only a small fraction of tails qualify as Select. These are exceptionally large and full northern deer tails with hair lengths around 4.5” and greater. Select Grade bucktails are premium tying material for anglers who demand top-tier performance on their biggest, boldest flies.
