The Story

When the going gets tough, the tough toss on Scientific Anglers' Sonar Titan GT Fly Line and pursue one of the strongest fish on the planet. Designed to tackle the gangsters of the flats, the Sonar Titan GT Line combines a powerful front taper with a 65-lb core to help you present flies that make a 16-ounce beer seem small while also keeping that massive GT away from the edge of the atoll. Pairing a floating running line with a 32.5' intermediate head that sinks at 1.25 ips, this line allows you to manage things cleanly over currents while still getting your fly down. Equipped with various technologies like SA's AST Plus and Tropi-Core technology, this line is ready for those tropical destinations loaded with trevally and other brutish predators. Available in line weights 11, 12, and 14, the Sonar Titan GT Line has an option whether you're dealing with skittish flats fish or a deepwater drop-off.

Features

SA Line ID, AST Plus, Tropi-Core, Sonar Sinking Technology, 65-lb Core - We've all been on those multi-reel, multi-rod, multi-line trips where everything's been packed perfectly, but when it comes to rig up for a week of fishing, remembering which line is where is just a pain. SA removes the guesswork from the equation with their SA Line ID. Line ID is an identification system at the tip 1'-2' of the line that quickly tells you what line you've got in your hand.

So there's a GT that's been racing back and forth about 75' away—you've been watching him all morning waiting for a shot—and you've come to terms with the fact that if you want a shot, you need to strip your whole line from the reel and make one long cast. SA's AST Plus is here to make that stressful situation that much easier. AST Plus is SA's new formulation of their patented dry-slick technology that's 50% slicker than their previous formula and up to 200% more durable than other lines on the market. A solid addition, AST Plus makes your line float higher, last longer, and shoot further.

Few fish require the speed of presentation that a giant trevally demands, and to ensure that your fly is ready to fish the second it hits the water, SA uses their Sonar Sinking Tech. Sonar utilizes a proprietary tungsten formula combined with a unique taper to get your flies down at the right speed and maximize time in the sweet spot during your retrieve.

Not only are GTs some of the toughest fish on the planet, but they live in harsh tropical environments. SA equips their Sonar GT Line for both the fish and their habitat with their Tropic-Core and 65-lb Core technology. Tropic-Core adds durability while preventing your line from going limp or failing in hot water or an even hotter boat deck. SA's 65-lb Core sports an extremely tough tensile strength of 65 lbs, allowing you to put the heat to a fish at those crucial points of the fight.

Uses

Streamers and Poppers - SA built their Sonar Titan GT Lines to present some of the largest flies out there, and while this accounts for nearly every streamer you'll come across, it also allows you to throw some poppers. With the intermediate head, this line lets you throw poppers while getting them just into the surface film if you need a more subtle presentation.

Temp

Tropical - Built to stand up to long days in warm and tropical environments, this line can handle anything from a 10-hour wading shift to an afternoon on a toasty boat deck. This line withstands some of the warmest situations out there, but should you try and fish it in a colder water system, you'll quickly find that it stiffens up.

Taper/Weight

More Mass Towards the Front of the Head - The fish are powerful, the line's strength is powerful, and the only thing missing is a powerful taper. Scientific Anglers adds a compact and aggressive front taper so that you can sling large flies and fight the wind when it kicks up. This taper loads fast-action rods efficiently and provides excellent turnover for those in-the-heat-of-the-moment shots.
