The Story
Built for tough fish in clear water, Scientific Anglers' Sonar Stillwater Seamless Density Sink Line is a tool that gives all of the stealth that a stillwater angler may need. An intermediate-density line (1.25ips) with a clear camo appearance, the Sonar Stillwater Clear Camo takes a mottled core and marries it to SA's supple clear coating to produce a line that sinks just slowly enough while preventing you from spooking the target. Overweighted by one line weight with a taper inspired by SA's popular MPX, the Sonar Stillwater Clear Camo Line allows you to make those long-distance casts, whether you're presenting a string of chironomids or big articulated streamers. From the stocked trout pond in your neighborhood all the way to a harsh alpine lake, the Sonar Stillwater is a safe bet for all of your stillwater demands.
Features
SA Line ID, Camo Tip, and Sonar Sinking Technology - Scientific Anglers makes this line in weights 4 through 8, and to ensure that you're never grabbing the wrong line or spool, SA's Line ID makes for clean identification with its marking system found at the first 1'-2' of the line's tip. A great choice whether the water is extra clear or the fish are extra spooky, Scientific Anglers utilizes their Camo Tip in this series of lines. A subdued combo of colors that blends into the world around it, SA's Camo Tip technology adds additional stealth to this family of lines. When the fish are deeper in the water column, you can count on SA's Sonar Sinking Technology to get your flies into the strike zone. A proprietary tungsten formula coupled with a unique taper, Sonar Sinking tech gets your flies right where you want them and keeps them there with a straight-line connection.
Uses
Nymphs, Streamers, and Midges - From fishing a caddis emergence just under the film to stripping chunky streamers over drop-offs, the Sonar Stillwater Clear Camo Line casts just about any fly in your box with finesse and accuracy. Being overweighted by one line weight works to deliver bulkier flies, while the clear camo technology provides all of the stealth that you need when fishing smaller flies in situations where proper presentation is key.
Temp
Cold/Moderate - Built for the demands of a stillwater angler, SA's Sonar Stillwater Clear Camo Fly Line was made for fishing cold to moderate environments. This allows you to fish anywhere a trout may live, and if you encounter a warmer pond packed with bass, you can fish this line just the same.
Taper/Weight
More Mass Towards the Front of the Head - Taking inspiration from their famous MPX taper, this series of lines is overweighted by one line weight and built on a taper that puts more mass towards the front of the head. This allows you to effectively load fast-action rods to hit those targets that might be further away, while also providing versatility when selecting which flies you want to throw. Whether you're casting out of a boat or fishing from shore, this line's taper makes light work of long casts.
