Â
Features
Advanced Shooting Technology - Scientific Anglers designed their Mastery Grand Slam Cold Line to cast effortlessly and shoot with minimal friction, and the addition of their Advanced Shooting Technology (AST) makes achieving this as easy as can be. AST is a patented dry-slick tech that gives continual line slickness while reducing friction and repelling dirt, grime, and other contaminants commonly found in the water. You can think of this as the tech that lets you squeeze that last 10' out of your cast to hit the pod of busting albies.
SA Line ID - When it comes to fishing, it’s important to remove every bit of error you can, and Scientific Anglers’ Line ID makes it easy to always grab the right line or spool. A quick identifier, SA Line ID is an integrated marking system in the first 1’-2’ of the tip section that ensures you won’t accidentally bring an 8-weight line with a 12-weight rod onto the boat.
Welded Loops - With strong welded loops on both the leader to fly line connection and the backing to fly line connection, this line makes it as easy as can be to quickly rig your reel and adjust your leader setup however you need. Â
Â
Uses
Poppers, Streamers, and Crustaceans - Made to be versatile across all situations with a taper that stands up to wind and nearly all fly sizes, this line is built to deliver anything from large poppers to wind-resistant Hollow Fleyes and all the way down to small crustaceans.
Â
Temp
Cold to Moderate - From your first cast of the season on the back half of April and all the way to the Fall Run in Montauk, this line is made for moderate to cold water and won't stiffen up when you're chasing November blitzes. On the other hand, if you were to try and use it in a warm to tropical situation, the standard Grand Slam line is a much better choice as it won't soften up.
Taper/Weight
More Mass Towards the Front of the Head -Scientific Anglers created the Mastery Grand Slam Cold Line for casting large flies, dealing with blistery conditions, and fighting tough fish. To accommodate all of that, they've made the line with an aggressive taper with a short head. This loads modern rods incredibly well while making quick shots easy whether you're standing on a jetty, the bow of a boat, or with your feet on the sand.
