When it comes to floating fly lines, they're pretty common in the world of fly fishing, but usually, they tend to excel in just their own right—some shoot well, some mend like a dream, and others let you bomb heavy streamers onto the opposite bank, but rarely can a line do it all... that is, until Scientific Anglers made their Amplitude Smooth Infinity Glow Fly Line. Built a half-size heavy and equipped with SA's AST Plus slickness, this line does an excellent job at loading fast-action rods and letting line rip through the guides, while its versatile taper allows you to pursue anything from panfish to steelhead. Available in line weights 3 through 8, when it comes to chasing freshwater fish, the options you get with the Amplitude Smooth Infinity Line really are infinite.
Features
SA Line ID, AST Plus, Improved Dry Tip, and Camo Tip - When they created the Amplitude Smooth Infinity Taper Line, Scientific Anglers included all of the tech necessary to make it a true workhorse. Starting with their SA Line ID, this series of lines has an identifier in the first 1'-2' of the tip section—this makes it nice and easy to ensure that you always have the right line and aren't caught in a jam two hours from home. From there, Scientific Anglers includes their AST Plus technology. AST Plus is a new formulation of Scientific Anglers' patented dry-slick technology that keeps your line slick for the line's entire life, but it also offers 50% more line slickness than the original AST technology while being up to 200% more durable than other lines on the market. We all know how frustrating it can be whenever the tip of your floating line begins to absorb water and sink, to combat this, Scientific Anglers gives the Amplitude Smooth Infinity series their Improved Dry Tip technology. Improved Dry Tip is a unique combo of microballoons that floats twice as high as other fly lines. This means that you'll get less drag on the front and more positive hookups; believe us, it's a win-win that's tough to beat. And finally, the Amplitude Smooth Infinity Line comes in two color options, one of which offers SA's Camo Tip, which consists of a muted series of colors that creates a stealth-forward design that's perfect for low water, clear spring creeks, and anytime you're dealing with fish that are on the spooky side.
Uses
Dry Flies, Nymphs, Streamers, and Poppers - When Scientific Anglers set out to make their Amplitude Smooth Infinity Taper lines, they wanted to give the angler as much versatility as possible, and to say that they succeeded puts things lightly. Built a half-size heavy, this line has no problem delivering large streamers into fast cuts or casting chunky poppers into a patch of weeds. However, this line's ability doesn't end there, as it also allows you to make long casts and softly present dry flies just as well as it can sink nymphs and mend over currents like a champ. Whether you're casting big streamers to steelhead or small tricos to brown trout, you can turn to the Amplitude Smooth Infinity Lines with confidence.
Temp
Cold/Moderate - This line was designed for cold to warm water. This allows you to fish for trout all year long while also hitting those warm ponds for bass and panfish. However, if you were to put this line in a tropical situation, it would quickly get soft and go limp.
Taper/Weight
More Mass Towards the Front of the Head - Scientific Anglers made their Amplitude Smooth Infinity series a half-size heavier and gave it a very versatile taper. This taper has more mass towards the front of the line to easily load most rods on the market, while its longer-than-normal head gives an extra boost of stealth that lets you present a small dry fly just as well as you would a beefy Zoo Cougar. Both versatile and effective in a wide range of waters and fisheries, this line was made to do anything you can drum up.
