Designed for those of us who have bass on the brain 24/7/365, Scientific Anglers' Amplitude Bass Bug Fly Line is one of the best lines on the market for tackling heavy smallmouth and largemouth. Built with Scientific Anglers AST PLUS slickness additive, this line allows you to reach those faraway lily pads to find lunker bass, and being overweighted by two line weights allows you to easily pick up and cast anything from a beer-can-sized streamer to a bulky popper. From bigmouth that can swallow a small chicken to bronzebacks that make salmon look weak, this is a fly line that can stand up to them all.
Features
SA Line ID, AST Plus, Shooting Texture, Floating Texture, Tactile Reference Point, and Camo Tip- Scientific Anglers put their all into the Amplitude Bass Bug Fly Line, and this line is equipped with every necessary tech and feature to make fishing for these great fish a breeze. SA knows that serious bass anglers have a spool for every condition, and to ensure that you're never grabbing the wrong one, they've worked their SA Line ID into this series. SA Line ID is an integrated identification system at the first 1'-2' of the tip of your line that makes for fast identification. Designed to cast like butter, this line has SA's AST Plus as well as their Shooting Texture. AST Plus is a new formulation of SA's patented dry-slick technology. This additive is 50% slicker than the original AST and 200% more durable than competing fly lines--this makes your line cast further, float higher, and last longer than other options. And to further enhance your cast, Scientific Anglers adds their Shooting Texture. Shooting Texture is a series of hemispherical divots that provide all of the performance benefits of texturing--easier casting, higher floating, and longer-lasting--while maintaining the feel of a traditional fly line. To keep your line floating while reducing water spray on the pickup, Scientific Anglers adds its Floating Texture to this series. Floating Texture is a microtextured surface that traps air and gives excellent floatability and shootability--think of this as added stealth whenever you're presenting flies to heavy bass laid up in super clear water. To further enhance that stealth, Scientific Anglers includes their Camp Tip. While it may seem like a simple addition, the Camo Tip is a blend of muted colors and is what really lets you cast close to tough bass without spooking them. And last but not least, for those early foggy mornings when visibility is rough and that cup of coffee hasn't quite kicked in, Scientific Anglers' Tactile Reference Point helps lead the way. Tactile Reference Point is a non-embossed section of line where the end of the head meets the running line, which lets you feel and hear the transition from the textured technologies.
Uses
Streamers and Poppers - A line that was made to present every fly in the bass angler's box, Scientific Anglers made their Amplitude Bass Bug Fly Line for presenting most sizes of streamers and poppers. Whether you're throwing an 8 Hollow Fleye, a massive Gurgler, or a skinny Wooly Bugger, this line will let you fish them all with ease.
Temp
Moderate/Warm - Made to endure the temperatures that most bass call home, the Amplitude Bass Bug Fly Line can handle moderate to warm temperatures. This means that you can cover anything from a fast temperate river to a warm farm pond in the middle of July without fail.
Taper/Weight
More Mass Towards the Front of the Head - Scientific Anglers put a lot of thought into the taper on their Amplitude Bass Bug Fly Line and made it so that you can stealthily present large and small flies with ease. Starting off, this line is overweighted by two weights, which allows it to deeply load your rod and throw large, wind-resistant flies (keep in mind, when choosing a line, be sure to use the designated line weight for your rod). From there, this line has a 43' head with more mass towards the front--focusing the mass here only helps you turn over and cast the heavy and large flies that are often necessary to find the true lunker bass.
