The Story

The premium version of Royal Wulff's most famous line provides the angler with a few important benefits over the regular version(s). First, the line's texture minimizes friction to improve distance casting capabilities and to help the line float higher in the water. Unlike the regular version, this line also has loops at both ends so you can easily attach a leader AND backing. That being said, it maintains everything we love about the original Triangle Taper, ideal for roll casting and delicate dry fly work.

Features

J3 Coating, Multiple Color Scheme - Royal Wulff's J3 Coating causes the line to float higher, shoot farther, and repel water for ultimate performance. The slick coating has a 'dry feel' which helps minimize friction through the guides and increases the life of the line. The line's durability and dirt-repelling capabilities can also be attributed to this coating. The floating version of this line is available in a Green/Ivory/Buckskin color scheme, so you always know how much line you have on the water.

Uses

Delicate Presentations, Roll Casting - The Triangle Taper offers award-winning performance with a unique taper design built for delicate presentations and roll casting at short ranges. The continuous forward taper allows highly efficient energy transfer throughout the cast and industry-leading roll casting abilities. The majority of the weight of the fly line is away from the fly, which leads to the line's superb delicacy and ideal performance for dry fly fishing. This particular version's premium texture also makes it easy to pick up off the water and reduces friction during the casting process.

Temp

Cold/Moderate - This line is made to be used in cold and moderate climates, including freshwater streams and rivers, lakes, and almost any climate. This line is built with a supple coldwater core and coating that keeps it stiff and durable in cold water. That being said, this line will turn limp in tropical climates and isn't meant to be used in high heat.

Taper/Weight

Continuous Forward Taper - The head of the Triangle Taper ranges from 30 feet to 35 feet, depending on the line size you choose. Unlike any other line, it features a continuous front taper, which means the heaviest part of the head is at the rear and the lightest is in the forward part of the line. This taper promotes wide-ranging performance from nymphing to dry fly fishing and everything in between. The WF5F version has a 30' head weight of 150 grains.
