An all-new line from Rio that brings exceptional versatility across a wide range of fly types and water sizes, their Premier Gold XP Fly Line has you covered whether you're looking at a morning of midging, an afternoon streamer bite, or an evening rise. Pairing a mid-length head with a half-size heavy build, this line's taper works flawlessly for delivering long casts and making delicate presentations. However, when the fish are deep and you need to run a multi-nymph rig with a split shot and an indicator, this line's medium-long rear taper and well-balanced body provide all of the power that you could want. The Gold XP Line takes design inspiration from Rio's long-favored series of Gold lines, incorporating a 5'6 front taper and upgrades to the rest of the design to increase on-the-water versatility. Available in line weights 3 through 8, Rio offers the Gold XP in weights for anything from high-elevation brown trout crushing caddis to a long drift spent bombing the banks with streamers on your favorite tailwater.
Features
SlickCast - For top-tier line slickness and castability, Rio works their SlickCast coating into this series of lines. SlickCast is Rio's proprietary technology that massively increases your line's slickness and durability while massively decreasing your line's friction.
Uses
Dry Flies, Nymphs, and Streamers - From the pre-lunch nymphing game into the early evening streamer bite, and all the way to the last rise of the evening, the Gold XP Premier Line is ready to deliver every fly in your trout box with success.
Temp
Cold - Rio's Premier Gold XP Line was made for all four seasons of trout fishing. This coldwater line is built to handle everything from a frozen winter morning spent drifting a small midge to late summer terrestrial presentation under a line of hemlock boughs. This versatile line, however, won't stand up to truly tropical conditions.
Taper/Weight
Mid-Length Head with a Medium-Long Rear Taper and Balanced Body - Versatility is at the heart of Rio's Premier Gold XP taper. Combining a mid-length head with a medium-long rear taper and well-balanced body, this line is equipped to turn over heavy nymph rigs, softly land dry flies, and hit casts both near and far. With a half-size heavy build, the Premier Gold XP also loads modern fast-action fly rods with ease. An excellent choice whenever you have to cover a range of fly types across water packed with variables, the Gold XP Line has you covered no matter how the fish are behaving.
