The Story

When the mission calls for oversized flies, aggressive eats, and fish that pull like they’ve got somewhere important to be, it’s time to reach for a rod that doesn’t blink under pressure. Enter Redington’s new BIG GAME Fly Rod: your freshwater weapon of choice when subtle presentations take a backseat to determination and power. Built to put large, meaty flies in front of predatory fish, the BIG GAME is Redington’s most powerful rod series ever, packing the heavy-lifting performance, strength, and rod action needed to hang with the heavy-hitters.

Whether you’re launching bass poppers from the bow of your canoe at first light, stripping articulated streamers through a large tailwater for predatory trout, or committing fully toa day of  musky fishing with flies the size of your neighborhood squirrel, this series is meticulously tuned for anglers with freakishly large-fish cravings. Shorter 8’3” models provide an ultra-low swing weight and precision, while the core 9-foot models deliver versatility across largemouth, smallmouth, and northern pike programs. At the top end, the purpose-built 11wt and 12wt Musky rods bring deep-loading power designed to comfortably cast the heaviest sinking lines without issue. Finished with a timeless look inspired by classic predatory pursuits, the BIG GAME blends modern material science with fish-first design for anglers who would rather overpower than overthink.

Nano Resin-Impregnated Graphite Blank – Redington constructs the BIG GAME series using high-performance graphite enhanced with advanced Nano Resin technology. The result is a blank that is lighter, stronger, and more responsive than traditional constructions, delivering a powerful deep-loading fast action that excels at moving heavy lines and bulky flies. Designed in-house on Bainbridge Island, each rod is carefully tuned to balance sensitivity with reliable strength — light enough to detect subtle takes, lively enough to load with precision, and responsive enough to control hard-fighting fish throughout the battle and stand up to those wildly windy days.

Guides
Ceramic Insert Stripping Guides
– Built to reduce friction and improve line management when casting heavier setups, the ceramic stripping guides promote smoother shots and increased durability.

Chrome-Plated Stainless Steel Guides – Tough, corrosion-resistant, and ready for hard use, these guides stand up to aggressive fishing environments while maintaining reliable line shooting.

Musky models feature a full ceramic guide train for added durability and performance when throwing extreme grain weights and massive flies long distances.

Reel Seat
Anodized Aluminum Reel Seat
– Corrosion-resistant and secure, the anodized aluminum reel seat keeps your reel locked in place no matter how intense the fight becomes. A hidden hook keeper machined directly into the reel seat adds clean functionality, while jam nuts with exaggerated knurling provide a tacky grip even in wet conditions.

Rod Tube
High-Denier Nylon Rod Tube With Dividers
– Redington packages the BIG GAME in a rugged, high-denier nylon rod tube built to handle travel, boat decks, truck beds, and everything in between. Internal dividers keep each section protected so your rod shows up ready to work.
