Rainbow Warrior Fly

Another great fly designed by US Fly Fishing Team member Lance Egan, his Rainbow Warrior is a flashy nymph that somehow manages to imitate nothing and almost everything at the same time. Tied with a flash body wrapped over red thread, when it gets wet, this nymph takes on a range of colors, while its red thread underbody shining through can replicate anything from a scud, aquatic worm, midge, mayfly, and even a chironomid in still waters. This makes the Rainbow Warrior a pattern that's equally effective as a general attractor as it is whenever you want to match those tiny red midges in January.

Tied with a relatively slim profile and weighted with a glass bead, the Rainbow Warrior is a fly that's perfect for fishing those deep runs, and it makes an excellent fly in a multi-nymph rig. Whether you choose to fish it in a small size like a 20 or bump up to a 16, this is a nymph that you can affix to your tippet with confidence any day of the year.
