The Story

One of the first large mayfly hatches of both the east and west coast, the March Brown is a hatch known for bringing large fish to the surface. A great imitation for these large, brown to tan colored mayflies, the Parachute March Brown Dry Fly rides nicely and low in the water and gives just the silhouette you need. Tied to match the color of the naturals, this fly has a ribbed brown dubbing body, brown tail, mallard wings, and a brown and grizzly hackle that make it an effective imitation for this hatch.

Commonly fished in sizes 12 and 14, the Parachute March Brown Dry Fly is a fly that you'll want to fish anytime that you see March Browns emerging; however, it can also be used if you find yourself in an emergence of Grey Foxes. Fishing the March Brown is best done when the naturals are on the surface, and like most dry flies, it's important to give as drag-free a presentation as possible. With March Browns being an early spring hatch, this is a fly that you'll want to carry at the beginning of the season and keep in your box until summer hits.
