The Story
This mini streamer was designed by Umpqua Signature Tyer Landon Mayer to imitate the smallest leeches in any fishery. A great pattern for freestone rivers, tailwaters, and even lakes, this pattern has a long tail for increased movement in the water and a thick collar to create some attractive commotion. This pattern is most effective when leeches are swept off of the river bottom during high water, runoff, or rainstorms and can be dead-drifted, stripped, or swung. The unweighted nature of this fly means it's not a super-heavy streamer designed for pounding the banks. Its smaller profile is more technical and more conducive to stillwater fishing and targeting finicky trout in spring creeks and tailwaters. Because of how this pattern is tied, it drifts and wiggles which encourages fish to eat.
