The Little Green Machine is a popular nymph that imitates PMD nymphs and emergers. This is a great pattern for the early spring in the western US when PMDs are prevalent in the water column and fish are keying in on them. The body of the fly is segmented with wire ribbing, and the thorax features a flashback wing case and tiny wings to imitate an emerging mayfly. This is one of the most popular mayfly nymphs we sell and works well in a variety of settings. Fish this fly under an indicator or as a dropper off of a dry fly during heavy hatches. The smaller fly works well for more technical fish, and the larger size 16 fly is ideal for fooling fish that are feeding on slightly larger bugs. While this fly does work best when fished as a PMD, it can also be used as a searching pattern in the Pheasant Tail color scheme when you're not sure which bugs fish are feeding on.
