Lawsons Green Drake Fly

Whenever the green drakes start to hatch on the western half of the United States, few other things matter. An emergence that brings big fish to the surface to feast on large, clumsy mayflies, this is a hatch that's important to prepare for, and with Lawson's Green Drake Fly, it is nice and easy. Designed by Mike Lawson as an imitation for the western green drake (smaller than its eastern relative), Lawson's Green Drake Fly is an excellent choice anytime these bugs are hatching, which is often the end of June into July.

Tied to float high and mimic the naturals, Lawson's Green Drake is tied with a natural tail, ribbed dubbing body, hair wings, and just enough hackle to let you float over those swift riffles while maintaining a realistic profile. Not so much a searching pattern, this is an adult mayfly imitation that should be fished whenever you see the naturals hatching. Easy to fish and a fly that you can bring anywhere you might encounter the western green drake, this is a dry fly that should be presented without any drag and one that you can cast over rising snouts with confidence.
