Pursuing picky bonefish in the mangroves or scooting it along a northeast mudflat in search of stripers, the Kung Fu Crab Fly can fit itself into almost any saltwater environment. Designed by Eddie Wyatt, the Kung Fu Crab provides an excellent imitation for a variety of crab species. The Kung Fu Crab is heavily weighted to make it ride with its hook up and is equipped with a weed guard so that you can get into those tight spots without fear. And to provide realism, movement, and match the body of a crab, this fly utilizes claws that rest in a defense position, a synthetic body, lifelike eyeballs, and rubber legs that pulse well in the water.
The Kung Fu Crab is an excellent pattern for fishing shallow to moderate flats as well as tidal estuaries, beaches, and channels. When fishing the Kung Fu Crab, a varied stripped retrieve with an occasional pause seems to work best, and it's important to closely match the color and size of the natural crabs in your area. Crabs are common on the saltwater food menu and the Kung Fu Crab is a great imitation, so this is a fly that you'll always want at the ready.
