The Story

One of those materials that you end up working into any fly you can, Just Add H2O's Fluoro Fibre is ultra-versatile and can be used to tie anything from large saltwater patterns to tiny midge larvae. A fine and straight synthetic material, Fluoro Fibre has movement and a glowing appearance in the water when tied into streamers, and it provides realistic segmentation to smaller nymphs and emergers. Tying emerald shiners for a trip to the Erie tribs or filling up the nymph box with the famous Jujubee Midge, no matter what you're looking to tie, Fluoro Fibre is an important material to have on hand.

Uses

Fluoro Fibre from Just Add H2O comes in long hanks of material that make tying large baitfish patterns easy, but it's also a fine enough material to be used in a variety of freshwater applications. While it's uncommon for materials to be able to transcend between fresh and saltwater or large and small flies, Fluoro Fibre does it almost seamlessly. Whether you're looking to increase durability and water-shedding capabilities on a Clouser Minnow or tie size 22 midge bodies, Fluoro Fibre can be used for it all. Fluoro Fibre is a versatile material that's most notably used for wings and tails on streamers, wound bodies on nymphs, emergers, and midges, wings on dry flies, and even wingcases or tailing shucks on nymphs and emergers.

Comparisons

Fluoro Fibre is a material like few others; however, one material that's commonly compared is Antron Yarn. Antron is a fellow synthetic material that's fine in diameter and often used for nymph and emerger tails as well as parachute posts on dry flies, but where the two differ is that antron isn't nearly as straight, and it also collapses when you try and use it on streamers. Both of these materials have their primary uses, but Fluoro Fibre offers a bit more versatility for the angler who might spend time in both fresh and saltwater.

Example Flies

Although it's used in a wide range of patterns and fly types, Fluoro Fibre is definitely best known for being used in Charlie Craven's Jujubee Midge, which is what Charlie chooses to craft the (often two-toned) body, wingcase, and legs. Another famous pattern from Charlie Craven that uses Fluoro Fibre for the wing is his Mole Fly that imitates small mayfly emergers.
