The perfect material for nearly all of the modern nymph's needs, Hareline's Stretchy Fly Skin is durable and can be used in many different ways. This clear material is easy to work with and has just the right amount of stretch, plus you can also color it with markers to achieve whatever look you like. We're big fans of using it to wind bodies and then using markers to give a two-toned appearance with a dark back and light underbody. Stretchy Fly Skin is a pretty versatile material, and it's best suited to tying nymphs and emergers. This material can be used to tie wing cases, scud backs, and it can also be palmered to create ultra-realistic bodies on your flies.

Comparisons

A similar material is Hareline's Scud Back. Scud Back is also a stretchy material that can be used for wingcases and the backs of scuds; however, it doesn't have the same clear appearance that's so easily altered by markers. Scud Back also doesn't come in the size variety that Stretchy Fly Skin does, so depending on what you're looking to imitate, the Stretchy Fly Skin may provide more versatility.
