Hareline Mink Strips

Full of natural motion with a touch more guard hairs than your standard Rabbit Strips, Hareline's Mink Strips are perfect for bringing small to medium-sized streamers to life. Cut from a mink, the fur on these strips has shiny guard hairs with a soft and supple hide, making it an excellent choice for streamers, leeches, and Zonker-style flies. Hareline's Mink Strips are dyed in a variety of natural colors, so whether you're imitating sculpin or want to add claws onto a crab fly destined for Belize, finding the right color is nice and easy.

Uses

From wings on streamers and claws on crustaceans like crabs and lobsters, all the way to tails on poppers, Hareline's Mink Strips have a ton of different uses. And while cutting the fur off of the hide is a bit unconventional for a Mink Strip, it does make for excellent dubbing.

Comparisons

A comparable material to Hareline's Mink Strips is their Rabbit Strips. Rabbit Strips also have a soft and supple hide with fur that moves well in the water, but the main difference is that Rabbit Strips tend to have far fewer guard hairs than Mink Strips. Guard hairs are a great addition when you want a buggier look or if you want a little more natural shine to your flies. Both of these materials are solid options whenever you want your fly to be packed with natural motion, but if you want a spikier appearance or need to tie flies that are a bit smaller, then Mink Strips are a better option.
