Uses

Clear Wing was made for tying wings on dry flies, and it can tie anything from spinner wings, upright mayfly wings, caddis wings, hopper wings, dragonfly wings, midge wings, and more. Not only is this material excellent for winging, but tiers have used it for gills on small chironomids, wing pads on pupae, and some have even wound it as a translucent body.

Comparisons

Ds Flyes Web Wing is a similar material that can be used in the same manner as Clear Wing. Simply cut the Web Wing to shape and you’ll have a realistic set of wings, just like Hareline’s Clear Wing provides. Although these materials can be used for similar purposes, there are some differences–Web Wing is a fabric that allows air to pass through, whereas Clear Wing is a film that doesn’t have any breathability; also, Clear Wing sports a glossy look and Web Wing has a matte appearance.
