The Poxyback has several similarities to other mayfly nymphs but the differences are important and fish notice. When mayflies emerge from nymph to adult, the back of their wing case darkens before they ultimately 'hatch'. The Poxyback has a dark wingcase to imitate this stage in the life of a mayfly. Fish see the dark back and understand that the mayfly is emerging; this stage is an easy meal for trout and they often feed mostly on emergers instead of duns. This particular pattern has a gold bead so you can fish it deep or mid-depth in the water column. Available in a couple of different sizes, this mayfly can be fished to imitate PMDs, Drakes, and other mayflies. Regardless of what the trout eat it as it's a highly productive pattern and should be a fly in every avid angler's box.
