Echo Overcast Fly Rod

When the wind stacks up on the flats and the fish demand both distance and precision, compromise is not an option. ECH’s Overcast was born from a simple question posed by legendary outdoorsman Flip Pallot: who wouldn’t want more line speed? The answer wasn’t to build an overly-powerful broomstick. Instead, working alongside Tim Rajeff, ECHO engineered a rod that generates greater velocity through a smarter and more intuitive design, built for delivering power without sacrificing feel. Built in a purpose-driven  9’3” length, the Overcast uses added lever length to increase line speed while maintaining the touch required for short, accurate shots in tight quarters. The action is firm but not overly stiff and powerful enough to drive casts into stiff coastal wind, yet responsive enough to drop a fly on target at close range. Offered in 6- through 10-weight options, the Overcast is tuned for saltwater realities: heavier flies, longer shots, and fish that rarely give second chances.

Echo’s Overcast blank is designed specifically to maximize line speed without relying on extreme stiffness. By extending the rod length to 9’3”, ECHO increases casting leverage, producing higher line velocity with smoother energy transfer and improved control. The result is a rod that feels light in hand, recovers cleanly, and maintains stability in wind while preserving the feedback needed for accurate, close-range presentations. 

Finished in matte black with red accent wraps, the aesthetic is clean, purposeful, and saltwater-ready.

Reel Seat

Rod Tube
ECHO Rod Roll Case – Instead of a traditional tube, the Overcast includes ECHO’s impact-resistant rod roll case, capable of carrying up to three rods and sized to meet most carry-on requirements. 

Warranty
As of February 2026, Echo honors a warranty service to the original owner of any of their fly rods that lasts the natural life of each rod. Echo will cover both manufacturer defects and poor workmanship, and if your rod breaks due to neglect, then a service fee will be charged (fees vary depending on specific rod models); if after inspection of the rod Echo finds that it was broken due to poor workmanship or materials, Echo will waive the service fee.
