The Story

Created by Bob Johns, a noted fly tier and hook designer, the Daiichi 2151 is a very unique hook. While it is forged and has the same curved shank as classic Spey hooks, the eye is different because it is straight instead of up. This allows for the hook to be used in nymph patterns for steelhead instead of just swung streamers. While swinging flies for steelhead may be the only pure way to fish for steelhead, there is no denying the effectiveness of fishing nymphs, leeches, and stoneflies in a dead drift. Curved shanks add an extra element of realism to nymph patterns, and that's why tying them on this hook is such a good idea. You aren't going to want to leave for your steelhead trip without a few flies tied on this hook.

Uses: Salmon/Steelhead Flies and Nymphs.

Example Flies: JC's Electric Steelie Stone, Egg Sucking Leech, Steelhead Wooly Bugger

Pack Size: 10
