Fly anglers have been catching fish on wet flies for decades-inspired by this long tradition, Daiichi created their 1530 Heavy Wet Fly Hook as a more modern version of the hooks used in the past. The 1530 Heavy Wet Hook combines a sproat bend with a 2x-heavy and 1x-short shank in order to provide a realistic profile to your flies and get them at just the right level in the water column, and when you hook a hefty fish, the 2x-heavy wire is there to prevent failure. Made in sizes 4 down to 16 with a bronze finish, the 1520 Hooks let you imitate anything from large emerging drakes to small caddis pupae.
Uses
Although Daiichi crafted their 1530 Heavy Wet Fly Hooks with soft hackles and wet flies in mind, this hook has proven to be worth more than just that. With its 1x-short shank and 2x-heavy wire, you can use this hook anytime you're looking to imitate nymphs, worms, or tie up some eggs.
Comparisons
With their TMC 3769 Nymph and Wet Fly Hook, Tiemco provides a very similar alternative to Daiichi's 1530 Heavy Wet Fly Hook. Just like the 1530, Tiemco's TMC 3769 Hook has a 2x-heavy wire with a sproat bend and bronze finish, giving you a very similar weight, strength, and profile. One difference between the two is that the TMC 3769 sizes down to an 18 instead of a 16, like the 1530 Hook.
