The Story

Cortland's Ultralight Trout line is part of their larger Trout Series of fly lines. This model is built with an extremely fine front taper and long head for precise loop control and ultimate delicacy at longer distances with dry flies. This is a technical trout line for the experienced angler who needs extra finesse and accuracy at long range. Available in two different line lengths to cater to the angler fishing a small stream or a larger one, this is a beautifully designed line for all you dry fly junkies out there.

Features

Welded Loops, High Floating Coating - Cortland has built a few different features into this line to keep it simple and functional on the water. The line is designed to float high in the water with a coating that also improves casting capabilities. Loops at both ends allow anglers to easily attach leaders and backing, so you can focus on the fishing instead of the rigging. The line features a three-tone color scheme for ultimate stealth when presenting flies to picky, finicky fish. The color scheme also allows anglers to know exactly how much line is on the water at any given time.

Uses

Dry Flies, Trout - The Ultralight Trout, as you have probably guessed from the name, is designed for ultimate delicacy and finesse. This is a line for the dry fly angler with an extremely fine front taper and a thinner overall line diameter for increased stealth on the water. This is a line designed for ultimate loop control, accuracy, and line control at longer distances with small flies. This is an ideal line for spring creek fishing, larger western tailwaters, and any time picky trout are present and willing to eat a dry fly.

Temp

Cold/Moderate - This line is made with a braided nylon multifilament core that's designed to be used in cold and moderate climates, including freshwater streams and rivers, lakes, and almost any climate. That being said, this line will turn limp in tropical climates and isn't meant to be used in high heat.

Taper/Weight

Ultralight Line, Long Front Taper - The Ultralight Trout line from Cortland comes in two different lengths. The 2-3wt lines are 80ft, and the 4-6wt lines are 90ft. The shorter lines feature a 40' head with a gradual front taper designed for delicacy and dry flies. Similarly, the longer lines feature a 45' head and an 18' front taper for ultimate dry fly accuracy at long distance. The WF5F version has a 30' head weight of 140 grains which is true-to-line size.
