Part of Cortland's larger 'Liquid Crystal' line series, the Flats Taper is a versatile line designed for everything from Bonefish to Tarpon. If you're looking for an ultra-stealthy Bonefish line, the Flats Taper comes in a fully clear color scheme that helps it blend in when targeting finicky fish in shallow water. Plus, a host of other features make this line a great option for the serious tropical saltwater angler. Bring this line everywhere from Mexico to Florida for an edge up on any target species.
Features
Welded Loops, High Floating Coating - Cortland has built a few different features into this line to keep it simple and functional on the water. The line is designed to float high in the water with a coating that also improves casting capabilities. Loops at both ends allow anglers to easily attach leaders and backing so you can focus on the fishing instead of the rigging. The line also comes in a Sky Blue color or a fully clear line color so you can choose visibility or stealth.
Uses
Bonefish, Permit, Tarpon, and More - The Liquid Crystal Flats Taper is a line designed for the hardcore saltwater angler. The versatile taper means you can use this line for a variety of species and in a variety of different tropical scenarios. This is a great line for throwing small Bonefish flies while wading or heavier Permit crabs from a boat. The clear version encourages extra stealth and the technology makes this a high-performance line that increases your chances of success on the water.
Temp
Warm/Tropical - This line's hard tropic coating and monofilament core mean that it's designed for tropical climates. This is a line that won't get sticky in high heat when coiled up on a boat deck or in warm water. That being said, this line will shrivel and won't cast well when used in cold water or colder climates.
Taper/Weight
Versatile Saltwater Taper - The Flats Taper has a 6' front taper, 14' body, and 26' back taper. This means that the taper is versatile, unlike other saltwater lines that are designed specifically for turning over large flies. The WF8F version has a 30' grain weight of 210 grains which means this line is also true-to-weight making it a great choice for a variety of contemporary fly rods. The line comes in two different colors: Sky Blue and Clear.
