The Story

Whenever you're casting into gin-clear water and stealthy presentations are a top priority, Cortland's brand new Ghost Tip 3 Fly Line is just what you need. Designed to sink a little more than a floating line, the Ghost Tip 3 Line has a 3ft intermediate tip that sinks at 3 ips so you can break through the water's surface and get your fly where it needs to be. The perfect line, whether you're in a crystal clear alpine lake, a fast-flowing brackish river, or swinging soft hackles on a stream to fish slashing emergers, the Ghost Tip 3 Fly Line will help you get that perfect presentation.

Features

Shooting Technology - Honed through years of testing, Cortland's Shooting Technology (ST) is their own proprietary formula that provides slick shooting and long-standing durability. Made from Cortland's own private PVC-blend, the Shooting Technology reduces any friction and gives a coating that locks out dirt and other particles so you can make the most of each cast and rely on this line for seasons to come. And to live up to its name, Cortland gives the Ghost Tip 3 a sleek mint color with a clear tip for those line-shy fishing scenarios.

Uses

Streamers, Nymphs, and Wetflies - The Ghost Tip 3 Fly Line was created for freshwater use that requires an extra few feet of depth and subtle presentations. Cortland also made this fly line able to be used in cold saltwater environments. And although it can handle some saltwater use, it shouldn't be bought with the intention of only being used in saltwater--you can think of it more as the line you can bring on those trips that cover everything from saltwater schoolies to freshwater bass hiding in weedbeds. Regardless of where you plan to use this fly line, it's one that gives a couple of extra feet of sink and lets to present anything from a size 16 Partridge and Orange to a large Drunk N' Disorderly Streamer.

Temp

Cold/Moderate - Cortland's Ghost Tip 3 Fly Line was created for use in cold to moderate water, with 70 degrees being its upper limit. Once you get beyond that, this line will start to get limp, so don't expect to fish it in any salt or freshwater tropical environments.

Taper/Weight

More Mass Toward the Front of the Head - Cortland made this fly line with a weight-forward taper that has a little extra mass and length in the head to allow for solid shooting and delicate accuracy. This allows you to effectively cast a range of fly sizes while maintaining the necessary stealth. Designed with a 53ft running line, a 5ft back taper that seamlessly transitions into a 27ft body, and is finished off with a 5ft front taper (this includes the 3ft intermediate tip), this fly line will cast smoothly while making it easy to lift your line off of the water and quickly shoot. Again, from swift tailwaters to tidal marshes, this is a fly line that you can rely on to effectively present a range of fly types and sizes.
