When the conditions are just plain tough and you have no option other than to punch large flies forward into the faces of predatory fish, let Cortland make things easy with their Cannon Fly Line. Built to make light work out of poor-weather days and large air-resistant patterns, this line is made with an aggressive taper that loads fast-action rods while standing up to 20-knot gusts. Part of Cortland's 50+ series, this line is also made with a braided nylon multifilament core that has a breaking strength exceeding fifty pounds-this is great for putting the hammer on tough fish, while also letting you handle snags without fear of snapping your line. Designed for use in both fresh and saltwater, Cortland's Cannon Line has your back whether you're casting a 12 Buford into a warm river for summer pike or sending a popper into a blitzing school of jack crevalle.
Features
Dual Welded Loops - Whether you're dealing with your backing-to-fly line connection or fly line-to-leader connection, there's no doubt that welded loops greatly simplify things. With their Cannon Fly Line, Cortland equips the line with dual welded loops, and with the addition of their Fifty+ Core, you'll never need to worry about one of these loops snapping on a trophy fish.
Fifty+ Core - Fifty+ Core provides a breaking strength of over 50 pounds and allows you to put maximum pressure on a fish without fear of a break, while also allowing you to pull out unwanted snags without fear of snapping your line.
Tropic Plus - Tropic Plus is Cortland's unique blend of high-tech polymers that creates a durable and slick surface that can hold up to hot water and even hotter boat decks.
Grip Set - Built for when you need to really set the hook in a tough fish, Cortland's Grip Set technology ensures that you're setting the hook perfectly when a trophy takes your fly.
Uses
Streamers and Poppers - Cortland made this line for throwing large flies into stiff winds. With its aggressive weight-forward taper, this line can cast poppers of streamers of nearly any size. From extended body Hollow Fleyes to Gurglers the NYAPs the size of your palm, this floating line presents them all with ease.
Temp
Warm/Tropical - Built for warm to tropical environments, this line is best for water temps that are 70 degrees and up. This allows you to hit those warmwater rivers in summer, exotic areas like the Amazon, as well as any warm to tropical saltwater destination. Should you try and use this line in water conditions under 70 degrees, you'll find that it will get stiff and be tough to work with.
Taper/Weight
More Mass Towards the Front of the Head - The Cannon Line features a compact 30' head that loads modern rods while standing up to windy days. Not only does this taper load your rod, but you can also count on it to throw large flies into the wind while also giving the precision that's often needed when fishing for tough customersÉcalling this family of lines the Cannon is no understatement, as you'll quickly see how well this line shoots your fly, no matter what the conditions.
