The Story

Whether you're fishing a fast and deep bend pool in the Amazon River for Arapaima or live-chumming up trophy kingfish and yellowfin in Florida, Cortland has you covered for it all with their 50+ Heavy Sink Fly Line. Designed to get your flies down quickly, this line has a 30' sinking head that drops at 7-8IPS and pairs with an aggressive taper to launch just about any fly in your box. And with the addition of Cortland's Fifty+ Core, this line has a breaking strength of over 50lbs, allowing you to tame huge fish while also providing additional strength when you need to pull your fly out of an unwanted jam. Made for warm and tropical conditions in line weights 10 through 15, there's an option in Cortland's family of 50+ Heavy Sink Lines whether you're pursuing tough GTs in Australia or pitching flies behind the transom at true pelagics like white marlin.

Features

Dual Welded Loops - Whether you're dealing with your backing-to-fly line connection or fly line-to-leader connection, there's no doubt that welded loops greatly simplify things. With their 50+ Heavy Sink Fly Line, Cortland equips the line with dual welded loops, and with the addition of their Fifty+ Core, you'll never need to worry about one of these loops snapping on a trophy fish.

Fifty+ Core - Fifty+ Core provides a breaking strength of over 50 pounds and allows you to put maximum pressure on a fish without fear of a break, while also allowing you to pull out unwanted snags without fear of snapping your line. Whether you're putting the hammer on a tuna or taming a tarpon, this tough line holds up to it all.

Tropic Plus - Tropic Plus is Cortland's unique blend of high-tech polymers that creates a durable and slick surface that can hold up to hot water and even hotter boat decks.Grip Set - Built for when you need to really set the hook in a tough fish, Cortland's Grip Set technology ensures that you're setting the hook perfectly when a trophy takes your fly.

Uses

Streamers and Crustaceans - A versatile sinking line, you can turn to the 50+ Heavy Sink Fly Line for presenting nearly any crustacean or streamer you have. Sending crabs deep into a channel in search of the permit of a lifetime or chucking 12 Yak Clousers at blitzing pelagics, this line is the perfect choice for it all.

Temp

Tropical - Cortland makes their 50+ Intermediate Big Game Lines for use in fresh and saltwater tropical situations. This allows you to target species like huge peacock bass as well as inshore and offshore predators without problem. However, if you tried to fish this line in the cooler waters of New England, you'll find that the line stiffens up.

Taper/Weight

More Mass Towards the Front of the Head - Built to load modern fast-action rods while handling rough and windy conditions, this line focuses the mass towards the front of the head. This is the perfect taper for a line like this that's used for quickly presenting flies-often large and wind-resistant-at fast predatory fish.
