Cortland's Spring Creek line is a freshwater, floating, weight forward line that's designed for trout, panfish, grayling, and any fish that requires finesse and careful angling. This is a line without all of the extraneous fly line features you'll find in lines twice the price and strips a dry fly line down to the basics. That being said, Cortland has put careful time and attention into the taper so that the angler gets the maximum performance out of the line without paying a ton of money. This is a great technical line for fly anglers who have experience targeting picky fish feeding on the surface.
Features
Welded Loop, High Floating Coating - Cortland has built a few different features into this line to keep it simple and functional on the water. The line is designed to float high in the water with a coating that also improves casting capabilities. A front loop allows anglers to easily attach leadersso you can focus on the fishing instead of the rigging. The line features a single-tone olive color scheme for ultimate stealth when presenting flies to picky, finicky fish.
Uses
Dry Flies, Delicate Presentations - Cortland's Spring Creek line features a simple design with honed, technical performance features. This is a line for wary trout eating dry flies. More than that, however, Cortland added some key features to this line that you don't see often in fly fishing including an extra-long level tip. This helps with delicacy on the water without sacrificing line energy transfer so that you can always turn over long leaders. This line lands softly on the water AND allows for control, accuracy, and distance.
Temp
Cold/Moderate - This line is made to be used in cold and moderate climates including freshwater streams and rivers, lakes, and almost any climate. That being said, this line will turn limp in tropical climates and isn't meant to be used in high heat.
Taper/Weight
Extra-Long Tip, Supple Front Taper - This line has a long, supple 4' tip for delicacy and accuracy at longer distances. A true-to-size line, the 30' grain weight on the WF5F version is 140 grains. The 39' head is designed to turn over longer leaders with accuracy and control without sacrificing delicacy. This is truly a taper built for anglers who enjoy presenting small flies to picky trout in a variety of scenarios.
