Bottom Roller Fly

Made to quickly get you down in the water column and give a buggy appearance, the Bottom Roller Fly is the perfect nymph for swift and deep water. Designed to look like a good meal for a trout without perfectly imitating any one critter, the Bottom Roller is a fly that can imitate things like caddis larvae, sowbugs, and scuds, and it works especially well with Euro and Czech nymphing techniques.

A simple yet effective pattern, the Bottom Roller is tied with a picked-out body of dubbing, a ribbed shellback, and is completed with a hidden bead for additional weight. The Bottom Roller can be effectively fished at any time of the year, whether as a standalone fly or a heavy point fly in a multi-nymph setup. Carry it in sizes 8 through 12 and punch it into large plunge pools of the north, big tailwaters of the west, or tiny limestone streams of the east, you can count on the Bottom Roller to hook fish anywhere you take it.
